Ocarina of Time Biggoron Sword Trading Sequence Guide

Follow this detailed walkthrough for the Biggoron Sword trading sequence in Ocarina of Time and learn how to obtain this powerful weapon.

The Biggoron Sword Trading Sequence in Ocarina of Time takes you on an adventure across Hyrule, allowing you to turn a simple Pocket Egg into the most powerful weapon in the game, the Biggoron Sword. In this classic quest, you’ll engage with several NPCs to trade various items, and if you’re meticulous with the timeline, it can all go relatively smoothly. However, players often find themselves scrambling against time limits or missing items altogether, so I’ll break it all down for you step by step.

As you embark on this journey, don’t forget that certain hero essentials can make your life easier. Grab your beloved horse, Epona, and make sure you’ve cleared the Ice Cavern before diving into trading. It’ll save you a lot of time later on.

Ready to trade your way to glory? Let’s kick off with where to start!

Biggoron Trading Sequence Walkthrough

To begin the Biggoron Sword Trading Sequence, you’ll first need to head to Kakariko Village and speak to the red-haired woman near the chicken coop. She’ll share her excitement about a Pocket Egg that is set to hatch soon and, due to her aversion to cuccos, will ask you to look after it.

After sitting in your inventory for one in-game day, the Pocket Egg will hatch into a Pocket Cucco. From here on, the Trading Sequence has officially kicked off.

Beginning the Trading Sequence

To kick off your adventure with the Biggoron Sword Trading Sequence, your first stop is Kakariko Village. There, you’ll want to track down a lovely red-haired lady who hangs out near the chicken coop. She has this adorable little Pocket Egg that she’s been nurturing, and it’s on the verge of hatching! However, due to her pesky allergy to cuccos, she’ll need your help to take care of the egg until it’s ready.

Now that you have Cojiro, we’re going to need to track down the Cucco Lady’s brother and return the bird to him. Unfortunately, he is no longer living in Kakariko Village during the adult era. To find him, you’re going to need to trek your way across Hyrule and look in a place you wouldn’t expect people to be.

Head on over to the Lost Woods and make your way to the room with the Skull Kid from the left of the entrance (if you get lost, consult a Lost Woods map). Sitting in front of the Skull Kid’s tree stump you’ll find the Carpenter’s Son. Present Cojiro to him and he’ll recognize that you’re a good person and plead with you to bring an Odd Mushroom to Granny in Kakariko Village.

Pocket Egg/Pocket Cucco

Now that we’ve secured the first crucial item for our trading escapade, it’s time to find the next link in this chain. The answer is actually straightforward; we already used a cucco to rouse someone from slumber earlier in the game, and we’re going to do the same here!

Make your way towards the house located by the well in Kakariko Village, and you’ll come across Talon snoozing peacefully on his bed. If you’ve already journeyed through the Lon Lon Ranch quest and added Epona to your collection, you can utilize the Pocket Cucco to wake him from his dreams. After you do, Talon will make a hasty return to the ranch, but hold on — you won’t be getting another item just yet.

Once you’ve dealt with Talon, scamper back to the Cucco Lady and show her the Pocket Cucco. She’ll express her gratitude, explaining how the bird has perked up greatly thanks to your help in waking her brother. As a token of appreciation, she’ll reward you with a new feathered friend: a blue cucco named Cojiro.

Cojiro

Ride Epona down to Gerudo Valley and use her to jump across the broken bridge that leads to the Gerudo Fortress. Before entering the fortress, you’ll pass by a tent with the Running Man and the Carpenters.

Present the Poacher’s Saw to the bald angry man who is in charge of the carpenters and he’ll give you a Broken Goron’s Sword as a reward.

Next, make a beeline to the Lost Woods and find your way to the area where the Skull Kid resides, located to the left of the entrance (If you’re feeling a bit lost, don’t hesitate to check out our Lost Woods map for guidance!). Right in front of the Skull Kid’s tree stump, you’ll spot the Carpenter’s Son. Present him with Cojiro, and he’ll recognize your good heart and ask you to fetch an Odd Mushroom for his mother, Granny, back in Kakariko Village.

Odd Mushroom

You’ll have only two and a half minutes to bring the Eyeball Frog to the doctor at the Lakeside Laboratory in Lake Hylia. This might sound like a strict time limit, but if you’ve cleared the Water Temple and unfroze Zora’s Domain, you’ll be able to make the entire trip in less than twenty seconds if you’re quick.

The doctor will want to eat the frog upon seeing it, but after hearing about how he needs to make Specialty Eye Drops, he’ll be nice and give them to you. However, like the Eyeball Frog, they need to be delivered fast!

You’ll have only three minutes to run all the way from Lake Hylia to the top of Death Mountain. This is the only one of these timed sequences which might genuinely give you trouble, as you’ll be running from one end of the world to the complete opposite end. Ride Epona through Hyrule Field as fast as you can and don’t stop for anything.

If you can scale Death Mountain within the time limit, present the Specialty Eye Drops to Biggoron, and his eyes will stop burning! Sadly, he won’t immediately give you the Biggoron Sword as he needs time to make it. He will, however, give you the Biggoron Sword Receipt and tell you to return in three days.

When you reach Granny, she’ll instantly grasp the pickle her son is in and hand you an Odd Poultice that you need to deliver to him. Unlike the mushroom, you’ll be pleased to know that this particular item doesn’t come with a ticking clock, so you can take your time with it!

Odd Poultice

Head back to the spot in the Lost Woods where the Carpenter’s Son used to hang out, and you’ll find he’s mysteriously disappeared. Instead, you’ll meet a cheerful Kokiri girl named Fado. If you hand over the Odd Poultice to her, she’ll share the story of his disappearance and insist on receiving the medicine since it’s made from the unique mushrooms native to the forest.

In return for the medicine, Fado will gift you the Poacher’s Saw. This saw is linked to the Carpenter’s Son, and considering all the other items we’ve collected so far are connected to his family, it’s pretty clear who is the next recipient of this tool. The big question is, where can we track him down?

Poacher’s Saw

Saddle up Epona and gallop your way to Gerudo Valley. Once you’re there, use Epona’s jumping skills to vault over the damaged bridge that leads right into the Gerudo Fortress. Just before you step into the fortress, keep an eye out for a tent where you’ll spot the Running Man hanging out with the Carpenters.

Show the Poacher’s Saw to the grumpy bald guy in charge of the carpenters, and he’ll reward you with a shiny Broken Goron’s Sword for your trouble.

Broken Goron’s Sword

Now that you have the Broken Goron’s Sword in your possession, it’s time to dive into the next phase of this trading escapade. This sword clearly needs to be taken to Death Mountain, but you won’t find anyone in Goron City who can make use of it. Instead, your mission is to locate a new character, Biggoron, to hand it off to.

Make your way up the steep slopes of Death Mountain (right next to where the Great Fairy Fountain is located), and you’ll discover a massive Goron who seems to be rubbing his eyes in distress. When you present the Broken Goron Sword to him, he’ll gladly accept it but confides that his eyes hurt too much to do anything about it! Thankfully, he’ll hand you a Prescription for eye drops and request you to deliver it to King Zora.

Prescription

Once you’ve snagged that all-important Prescription, it’s time to hustle over to Zora’s Domain. Hand it over to the now-thawed King Zora, and he’ll let you know that while he doesn’t have the eye drops you need at the moment, he’s got the key ingredient to whip them up!

What’s even better? You’ll receive an Eyeball Frog as a gift, and you’ll need to dash off to Lake Hylia to deliver it to the doctor without any delay!

Eyeball Frog

Now, here’s the catch: you’ve got only two and a half minutes to get that Eyeball Frog to the doctor waiting eagerly at the Lakeside Laboratory in Lake Hylia. While it sounds a bit nerve-racking, if you’ve already tackled the Water Temple and freed Zora’s Domain, you can zip across the map in less than twenty seconds if you stay on your toes!

When you finally reach the doctor, he’s going to be tempted to munch on the frog at first glance. But once he catches wind of the need for Specialty Eye Drops, he’ll gladly hand them over to you. Just remember, you need to get those drops delivered quickly too!

Specialty Eye Drops

This next leg of the journey will put you to the test, as you’ll have a mere three minutes to sprint all the way from Lake Hylia to the peak of Death Mountain. This part can really ramp up the challenge since you’re basically crossing Hyrule from one side to the other. Make sure to ride Epona through Hyrule Field like the wind and don’t let anything slow you down!

If you manage to climb Death Mountain within the time limit, present the Specialty Eye Drops to Biggoron, and his burning eyes will finally find relief! But, as it turns out, he can’t just hand over the Biggoron Sword on the spot; he needs a bit of time to craft it. In the meantime, you’ll receive the Biggoron Sword Receipt and he’ll instruct you to come back in three days for the sword.

Biggoron Sword Receipt

So, here’s the thing: you’ll have to sit tight for a good three days to get your hands on the last piece of this quest. You’ve got a couple of options—either venture away from the area for a bit or stick around and play the Sun’s Song three times to make the time fly. Whichever way you choose to fill the hours, just know that when the three days are up, Biggoron is going to unveil his most impressive creation yet.

Once you’re ready, head on over to Biggoron and show him the Biggoron Sword Receipt. In return, he’ll hand you the coveted Biggoron Sword! This baby is the fiercest sword you can wield in the entire game, packing a punch stronger than the legendary Master Sword. But there’s a trade-off—when you’re swinging this mighty blade, you’ll need to ditch your shield, which means you’ll be sacrificing some defensive capabilities for some serious offensive power. Choose wisely, my friend!
