Red Walker wakes up at the Miner Diner in Silver Pines Outskirts at the sound of a phone call outside. You are here looking for a musician named Eddie Velvet who is assumed to be staying at the Crimson Bear Motel. What seemed like a simple investigation quickly turns dark as shadowy creatures start attacking you.
The early game is all about resource management and spatial awareness, so don’t burn through your limited supplies too early. It is very easy to get turned around in the Underpass or waste precious health while trying to brute-force your way past the initial enemies. You really need to be deliberate with your exploration to stay alive.
Before you dive deep into the motel grounds, double-check your inventory for the Car Key and ensure you have grabbed the Soda from the diner exterior. This will give you a slight edge in stamina early on. Being prepared before you hit the main gates makes the upcoming boss encounters significantly less punishing.

Answering the Phone Call
You wake up in the diner to the sound of a phone ringing outside. The door to the right is locked, so pick up the Car Key off the table and go left.
Check the jukebox and the commemorative plaque up ahead. Then head into the Kitchen through the door.
Go left and inspect the radio to zoom in on the table, where you can grab the Diner Key from the rack. You can also make a cup of Coffee for yourself to boost your Max Stamina.
Leave the Kitchen and head to the Restroom on the left. Inspecting the bulletin board gives you the Emergency Frequency (89.0 Hz) Note, which allows you to rotate the dial on the Kitchen Radio to hear an emergency broadcast.
Enter the Toilet and grab the Locked Ring Box from the sink. Head back outside once you have these items.
Go all the way to the left and use the Diner Key to unlock the door. Head outside to proceed.
Answer the phone to talk to Mr. Jackman, who confirms that Eddie Velvet is currently staying at the Crimson Bear Motel.
After the conversation, go right and open the back of your Car Trunk using the Car Key. Make sure you grab everything inside before moving on.
You can exit to the southern path just up ahead, but don’t forget the can of Soda on the table past the exit. Grab it before leaving the Diner Exterior.
Reaching the Crimson Bear Motel
Continue east along the path until you spot a notice board. Collect the Silver Pines Outskirts Map from it.
This map reveals the layout for the zone, with your destination highlighted in a red circle. It is located just past the Tunnel to the north.
Head up the northern road and go east toward the Ferry Office to talk to the Sheriff. He will point you toward the Crimson Bear Motel.
Start walking west and pass the Tunnel to reach the Motel. There is a Phone up ahead to save your progress, but the main gate is locked and requires a Guest Number.
Go inside the Check-In Office located west of the Motel gate.
You will find the Check-In Note pinned to the notice board, stating that staff went to Rodney’s General Store. That is your next destination.
Reaching Rodney’s General Store
Leave the office and continue west, taking the northern path toward the General Store. Enter Garth’s Pharmacy and pick up the Flatleaf Herb before heading inside.
You will find another Flatleaf Herb to the right as you enter. Grab the bottle from the counter and head into the Staff Only section.
Find the Underpass Key on the shelf to the left.
Leave the Pharmacy and return to the Motel street. Go left and unlock the gate using the Underpass Key.
Head to the end of the Underpass and go through the door. Go right and drop off the ledge.
Inspect the dead animal, then check the satchel for some Money. Head through the northern path when you are ready.
Go east and climb up the wall to reach the other side.
Continue forward until you reach Rodney’s General Store. Save your progress at the Phone before going inside.
Obtaining the Guest Number
Go to the right after entering the General Store to loot some Money from the register. Check the Sleezy Calendar on the wall for the current date.
Find the General Store Code Note on the board. It states the meat locker code is 23 plus the current day of the month, resulting in the code 2311.
Go to the left end of the store and use the code to enter the Freezer Room.
Dodge past the hanging meat to cross the room, then head through the door at the end.
Inspect the meat bag ahead and click the tag for additional flavor text.
Check the duffle bag on the table to the right to find the Check-In Key.
An enemy will spawn near the meat bag as you take the key. Since you lack a weapon, dodge past the creature and sprint out of the General Store.
Go left and pick up the Boxcutter to gain a melee defense. Continue west and jump over the wall.
Keep heading west past the yellow sign, using the Boxcutter to slash through the hanging fabric to carve a path.
Go west and then south, jumping up to grab the ledge and climbing the ladder.
Go through the door on the right to loop back to the Underpass. Loot the chest for Duct Tape and use the Boxcutter to open the path to the east.
From here, you can easily return to the Check-In Office. There is an enemy in the Underpass, but you can dodge past it.
Once back inside the Check-In Office, slash the fabric to the right to reach the next room. There is a Storage Container for your inventory and a Flatleaf Herb to collect.
Use the Check-In Key to open the nearby chest, which contains the Motel Guest Ledger. This ledger provides the Guest Number for Eddie Velvet, which is randomized each playthrough.
Leave the office, return to the Motel gate, and enter your Guest Number into the panel to gain entry.
Accessing the Grizzly Building’s Pool Area
Go left after entering the Motel area to find the Porcelain Bear Gift Shop. Grab the map from the signboard and head inside.
There is a gun locker to the right containing a Shotgun and ammo, but it requires a code.
Go to the left end of the store and find the Fusebox Note on a table before heading down into the Basement.
The basement is flooded and contains a monster. Go below the stairs to find Duct Tape in a chest, then head right.
Move the curtain in the center of the basement to find a door with a palm tree drawing, though it is currently missing a Door Knob.
Take down the enemy beyond the gate on the far right. It is safer to kill it now rather than luring it around, as you will need to backtrack here later.
Check the table on the right for the Electrical Fuse (40A). When exiting, be prepared for an insect creature; you can use a Charged Attack to hit it as it jumps.
Outside the Gift Shop, head east to the Fuse Box beside the Game Room. Insert the Electrical Fuse to power the area and enter the Game Room.
You will see a mounted BB Gun next to a Prize Dispenser, but you need BB Pellets to use it.
Defeat the monster, then collect the BB Pellets from the dispenser. Grab the Staff Note and Money from the register to finish this section.
