RetroSpace Walkthrough Part 3 – Nexus Gardens Secrets

Push deeper into the Nexus Gardens to unlock the Janitors’ Haven with this detailed third part of our RetroSpace walkthrough.

You can reach the elusive Janitors’ Haven in RetroSpace by carefully maneuvering through the Nexus Gardens and disabling the station’s automated security. This part of the journey requires you to navigate cramped ventilation shafts and bypass high-level security terminals to uncover the path forward.

The mutated inhabitants of Aurora 5 make exploration dangerous, and it is easy to waste your limited health resources if you rush into rooms without checking for environmental hazards first. I found the security turrets to be the biggest hurdle, so prioritize shutting them down the moment you reach the main control terminal.

Before you dive into the gardens, make sure your wrench is ready and you have cleared some inventory space for vital loot. Bringing a few extra medkits is a lifesaver since the path to the haven is filled with unexpected monster encounters.

You will piece together the Janitors’ Haven symbol code by exploring the upper tiers and searching for audio logs scattered across the environment. Don’t worry if you miss a clue, as most of these can be found by backtracking through the central elevator sections.

RetroSpace is all about observation, so keep an eye out for flickering lights or wall textures that look slightly off. Many of the best shortcuts and supplies are hidden in plain sight behind furniture or foliage.

  • Objective: Janitors’ Haven
  • Objective: Find the Code to the Janitor’s Haven

This section picks up right where the previous mission left off.

Objective: Janitors’ Haven

Start by looting the ammo on the couch and grabbing the medkit and food from the nearby chests. Head straight for the terminal behind the desk to manage the station’s security status for this sector.

You will need a password to access the interface; if you haven’t found one, be prepared for a 3 Skull difficulty hacking attempt.

Reading the local messages reveals the Garden Storage code is 1212, and the security override code for the Nexus Gardens is 9636. Input 9636 to deactivate the turrets, then look closely at the foliage on the left side of the room to discover a hidden passage.

Follow this path past the initial door to find some storage chests, then double back and head through the left door. This route eventually leads you toward a ventilation fan that needs to be cleared.

Objective: Find the Code to the Janitor’s Haven

Destroy the fan to enter the next room where Dr. Nebula warns you about the missing code. Head to the rear of the chamber and shatter the glass to secure the Blueprint, which is required for weapon upgrades.

Inside the Janitors’ Haven, interact with the middle portrait to reveal the outline of a code. You will see two symbols immediately, but the third one remains invisible for now.

This code is used for the Portal Gate on the right side of the area. Exit through the left, drop down the platform near the ladder, and look behind the boxes to find the switch that restores ladder access. Dispose of the enemy outside and make sure to extract its genes.

Loot the body to obtain the Keycard to Head Gardener’s Office. Head down the right path to the rest area to pick up the The Last Beerpong audio log, then squeeze through the crawlspace on the left to extract genes from the Biomatter. Take out the spider that ambushes you before using the green-lit door to loot the next section, then locate the ladder leading up in Section A.

Search the back of this space to find a hatch leading downward into a gas-filled area.

Loot the corpse on the left and descend the second ladder. When you find no further passage, climb back up two levels to reach the elevator near the hacking attachment location. Call it down and ride it to the upper floor.

Exit the elevator, move to the left, and strike the generator with your wrench to power it up.

Follow the circular perimeter to find another audio log resting on a couch next to a corpse.

Eliminate the monster that spawns, then keep moving until you locate the ramp leading upward.

Ascend the ramp, jump across the gap, and climb the ladder. Clear the balcony of monsters and loot the area thoroughly, grabbing the battery before heading to the central column to climb higher.

Open the storage chest to claim the beer and the nearby audio log. You will now see the third symbol for the Janitors’ Haven code.

The full sequence is Black hole > Cell Mitosis > Triangle > Square. Retrace your steps through the Head Gardener’s room back to the Janitors’ Haven and activate the portal.
