Control Resonant West Incursion Zone Guide

Navigate the tricky West Incursion zone in Control Resonant with this guide covering essential upgrades, hidden secrets, and side quest lyrics.

The West Incursion is a nightmare of shifting geometry and hazardous Patterning that makes simple navigation a real chore. Getting through it requires knowing exactly where to look for gear, as this zone is packed with hidden upgrades that are easy to miss while you’re busy surviving.

I personally spent way too much time wandering in circles before realizing I needed a specific ability to bypass the worst of the wreckage. It’s frustrating to hit a wall when you’re just trying to clear the area, so don’t make the same mistake I did by going in unprepared.

Before you commit to this run, make sure you’ve finished the Incursion Fault side quest. Having the Shift ability unlocked is non-negotiable if you want to reach the best loot and actually get around the environment efficiently.

You absolutely need the Shift ability from the Incursion Fault side quest to traverse the zone properly. Without it, you’ll find yourself locked out of key areas and unable to grab those essential gear upgrades.

This zone is dense with secrets, and I’m still combing through every corner to ensure nothing is missed. Expect updates as I continue documenting the more obscure findings within the wreckage.

Here is what you should keep an eye out for while exploring the West Incursion:

  • Three Health Upgrade crate locations
  • One Power Upgrade crate location
  • The Vendor and Terminal spots
  • The Urban Fresh Mart secret
  • Locations for the Dog, Sketchbook, Camera, and Taxi
  • The Testing Facility and Arcade access
  • The The Party Won’t Stop side quest

Large Resource Crate Locations Health Upgrade

First Health Upgrade Crate

The first crate is sitting right next to the Vendor vehicle in the West Incursion Zone. Refer to the vendor section below if you have trouble tracking down the machine.

Second Health Upgrade Crate

You’ll need the Shift ability from the Incursion Fault quest to make this work. Once you’re inside the parking garage, focus on getting to higher ground.

Follow the Exit signs as you climb, and you’ll spot the crate containing the Health Upgrade exactly two floors up.

Third Health Upgrade Crate

Head north to the Empire Avenue Station and dive into the subway tunnels. Once underground, check the room on your right to find the third Health Upgrade.

Large Resource Crate Locations Power Upgrade

First Power Upgrade Crate

You’ll find this Power Upgrade crate inside the House of Mirrors. Look for it near the map pylon, which acts as a handy landmark in that chaotic area.

Vendor Location

Find the street near the map pylon where the red slimes are congregating. Follow that road all the way to its end to find the Vendor vehicle parked there.

Terminal Location

I’m still tracking down the exact coordinates for the terminal. I’ll get this updated as soon as I finish my current sweep of the zone.

Secret Location Urban Fresh Mart

Travel south from the House of Mirrors until you reach the Urban Fresh Mart. Step inside to begin the puzzle involving the cash register.

You need a specific code to open the hidden basement, and it’s not immediately obvious. Start by reading the note on the box in the corner, which points you toward the soda dispenser.

Interact with the soda dispenser near the entrance to trigger a flashing light sequence. Each brand flashes a specific number of times, representing the digits of the code.

For example, if two brands flash together, it counts as 2, while a single brand counts as 1. The sequence appears to be 3121, but don’t punch that in yet.

The note on the counter mentions that the drinking order is reversed, which means you have to reverse your code too. This is the trick that caught me off guard initially.

Reversing 3121 gives you the correct key combination, 1213.

Enter 1213 into the register to unlock the door to the hidden basement. Head down there to claim your Health Upgrade and some extra lore items.

The basement is a goldmine for collectibles, so make sure you clear out the whole room before you head back up to the surface.

Dog Location

I haven’t locked down the dog’s location yet. I’m prioritizing other objectives but will add this to the list shortly.

Dylan’s Sketchbook Location

I’m currently scouring the area for the sketchbook. Check back in a bit and I should have the exact spot marked for you.

Camera Location

I’m still searching for the camera, but I’ll make sure to update this section once I find it during my next session.

Taxi Location

Head to the Empire Avenue Station area and use your Shift ability to navigate to the upside-down section. Once you’re there, look for the taxi and step inside to trigger a call with Mia.

After the chat, you’ll need to solve a puzzle by picking the correct taxi. The trick lies in observing the streetlights above each vehicle.

Here is what you need to look for when choosing your taxi:

  • First Taxi: Choose the one under the flashing streetlight.
  • Second Taxi: Pick the one under the streetlight that is completely still.
  • Third Taxi: Select the one under the flashing streetlight that is rhythmically out of sync with the others.

Testing Facility Location

Head to the main street in the center of the zone. Look for a small construction site and find the pipe leading underneath it.

Crawl through the pipe to reach the testing facility. Once inside, you’ll have to solve a soda dispenser puzzle to get your rewards.

You need to position a soda dispenser in each of the squares around the room. After they’re all set, hit the main switch to grab your Power Upgrade and some hidden collectible notes.

Arcade Location

The arcade machine is restricted until you hit Zone Level 3. It’s not something you can rush early on, so keep that level requirement in mind.

When you’re ready, look for the Atlantis Coffee shop right next to the Empire Avenue fast travel point. Break the wooden boards blocking the entrance and step inside to find the arcade unit.

Side Quests

The Party Won’t Stop

Look for the Singing Reported sign marked on your map in the southeast part of the zone. You’ll know you’re close when you start hearing the music and see the mold growing on the streets.

Scan the buildings to the west, specifically the one glowing with neon purple lights. That’s where the party is hidden, though the front door is unfortunately locked.

Climb up to the roof of the building opposite the party house. From there, you can easily jump across to the rooftop where the karaoke is happening.

Head downstairs and you’ll find an Altered Item masquerading as a karaoke machine. You have to participate to shut it down, which means picking the correct lyrics from the dialogue options.

It’s fairly intuitive if you listen for the rhymes, but if you want to avoid risking any of the crowd members, these are the correct lyric choices in sequence:

Use these lines to successfully finish the song and end the chaos:

  • …gasoline
  • …stress
  • …so fleeting
  • …too long
  • …move
  • …fear
  • …everything
  • …higher and higher
  • …Shout

Missing a lyric results in a casualty, which is pretty harsh. I learned that the hard way during my first run, though thankfully it didn’t completely lock me out of completing the quest.

Completing this quest nets you the Untapped Bar Blade artifact and the Varsity Jacket. Good luck, and remember to stay true to who you want to be!

I’m still digging for more side quests in this sector. I’ll get them added as soon as they’re confirmed.

That covers everything I’ve found in the West Incursion so far. Thanks for following along, and keep your eyes peeled for those secret corners.
