RetroSpace Endings and Post-Ending Scenes Guide

RetroSpace has two main endings, each with unique outcomes and achievements, plus six post-ending scenes.

RetroSpace has two main endings, and your final choice decides what happens to Aurora 5 after you clear the contagion block. You can choose to continue the original mission and return to the Golden Journey fleet, or set your destination to Earth.

Both endings yield different outcomes and unlock their respective Steam achievements. The game also includes six post-credits scenes, which are determined by the choices and actions you made throughout your playthrough. Some of these scenes have higher priority than others, so if you meet multiple requirements, the higher-priority scene takes precedence.

Below, you will find how to reach both RetroSpace endings, what occurs after each ending, the achievements they unlock, and guidance on seeing all six post-ending scenes.

RetroSpace Good Ending: Return to the Fleet

You can unlock the good ending by choosing to continue Aurora 5’s original mission and return to the Golden Journey fleet.

After clearing the contagion block, go to the navigation terminal and select the option to rejoin the Aurora fleet.

Aurora 5 will adjust its coordinates to align with the rest of the Golden Journey convoy.

This ending will also unlock the Too good to be true achievement.

What Happens in the Good Ending?

Aurora 5 begins its jump, successfully escaping the black hole’s distortion field.

Upon reaching the rendezvous coordinates, the crew discovers complications: the communications system reports no radio transmissions from the other vessels.

Looking outside, you spot that the fleet is not intact. At least one nearby Aurora station appears to have been torn in half.

The remaining ships drift through space without any communications. The fate of the fleet and its AI systems remains uncertain.

As you continue exploring Aurora 5, you may encounter locked doors, security panels, and terminals that require specific codes. For those, check out the RetroSpace: All Codes & Passwords guide for the necessary codes.

RetroSpace Bad Ending: Return to Earth

The bad ending triggers when you choose to abandon the fleet’s mission and head for Earth.

After clearing the contagion block, go to the bridge terminal and set Earth as your destination.

Aurora 5 will begin its journey back to the Sol system.

This choice unlocks the Not the best outcome… achievement.

What Happens in the Bad Ending?

Aurora 5 completes its warp jump toward Earth.

Upon reaching its destination, the ship attempts to contact ground control but receives no response.

The communications system indicates that no radio transmissions are being received from Earth.

Gazing down at the planet, it becomes clear what transpired: Earth has transformed into a brown, desolate wasteland shrouded in thick atmospheric smog. Destroyed satellites orbit around the planet’s surface.

This ending reveals that Dr. Westfield’s choice to return to Earth was ultimately futile; the planet was lost long before Aurora 5 could arrive.

While exploring the ship, you can also find optional audio logs that help you unlock the Radio Ga Ga achievement.

Which RetroSpace Ending Is Canon?

Currently, there is no official confirmation from The Wild Gentlemen regarding which of the two main endings is considered canon.

Some player speculation suggests that the Golden Journey fleet ending aligns more closely with the game’s themes, but nothing has been confirmed.

So, if you’re searching for an officially confirmed canon ending, there isn’t one available at this time.

RetroSpace Post-Ending Scenes

Your choice of ending is just part of the experience after the credits roll. RetroSpace features six post-ending scenes that depend on your actions throughout the game.

The scenes follow a priority order. If you satisfy the requirements for multiple scenes, the one with the highest priority will occur.

1. Abomination

To unlock this highest-priority post-ending scene, use a lot of Mutamods during your playthrough and upgrade at least 3 different Mutamods to Level 3.

2. I am the Void

For this scene, you need to:

  • Die at least 20 times during one playthrough.
  • Not fulfill conditions for a higher-priority scene.

Meeting both conditions allows you to see the I am the Void scene.

3. There is still hope…

Complete all six side quests in the same playthrough. The required side quests are:

  • Find something for Dr. Nebula
  • Violet’s Story
  • Rose’s Fragments
  • Find a new head for Joey
  • Codename: Charlie
  • Dates

Avoid meeting the requirements for the two scenes mentioned above, and you’ll unlock this one.

4. Space Disease

For this scene, you must never use any Mutamods during your playthrough and not fulfill the conditions for a higher-priority scene.

5. The Wrench is the KEY

To trigger this scene, kill at least 20 enemies with the wrench during one playthrough.

6. Everything is funky

This scene is the default post-ending scene and will occur if none of the requirements for the previous five scenes are met.

Kill at least 20 enemies with the wrench during one playthrough.

6. Everything is funky

This is the default post-ending scene.

You will get Everything is funky if you do not meet the requirements for any of the five scenes above.
