Heading To The ValeVale Of WrathDefeating Slaughtermill

Heading To The Vale starts off with you receiving the Outward Pass Key. From the abandoned church, use your grappling hook to reach the area leading toward the Caverns.

Your objective is to find the Vale of Wrath. Upon arrival, notice the shrine and head to the first lantern you spot. The way forward is blocked by corruption, requiring you to eliminate two nephtoglobin weak points.

One weak point is near a hut on the right side of the lantern, while the other is to your left. Make your way to the nearby river where you’ll encounter enemies and find the yellow corruption material. Use fire transmutation to eliminate this corrupting flora, which enables you to access a crate that you can use to elevate yourself to discover the other weak spot.

After taking care of the corruption, confront the Iron Marshall, a relatively weaker foe you’ll face repeatedly in this chapter. Don’t let it catch you off guard; deal with it quickly as you make progress.

To clear the path, shoot a tree to create a passage and descend the ladder to the next lantern. Lucjan awaits to provide insights if you chat with him. You’ll spot a corruption wall under the wooden bridge. Jump on the nearby rocks to locate and destroy the weak spot on the cliff to proceed.

Your next decision point comes at a fork—left leads to the painter’s house, while right can connect you with the deserter Eternal Guard quest. The painter’s house itself will need you to destroy its corruption weak point from outside its window to enter.

Musket is your next big find, located within an army camp after going straight along the path from the painter’s house. Watch out for several corrupted enemies on your way there. Once inside the camp, defeat the guard and access the carriage at the center to obtain the Musket.

The Musket excels at long-range combat, making it perfect for picking off enemies before they can close in. Pair it with ammunition like Blunderbuss for maximum effect. Navigate around the camp to find a wooden tower that leads outside after scouting thoroughly, then prepare for another skirmish.

Before leaving the camp, you’ll encounter a locked hut accessible by climbing up. Once again, grab the tools you need to bypass obstacles and open the doors, setting the stage for combat against a cannon-head enemy separated from a group.

Power To Manipulate Nephtoglobin is your next upgrade, allowing you to change nephtoglobin formations, which is key to unblocking paths. Get this power swiftly for the challenges ahead. You will need it to manipulate the formations scattered throughout the shipwreck area.

Prepare for an ushering of ranged enemies while making your way through the shipwreck. Look out for the corruption hindrance and use the hole in the ship to access another weak spot. This ability will prove vital in further chapters.

Your journey leads to cult-like structures beyond the river. As you move deeper, keep your ears open for hints from Shrike; this chapter involves some lengthy exploration. Maintain your focus, and you’ll find a lantern waiting for you in the distance.

Defeating Slaughtermill is your ultimate challenge within this chapter. It behaves as a gimmick boss that executes sweeping attacks with tentacle-like projectiles. Your survival depends on dodging these projectiles effectively while managing the shockwaves that follow.

Be vigilant as the fight escalates; the blades will spin faster, and you will be pushed back. Use the nephtoglobin formations to jump up onto the Slaughtermill to deliver more damage, especially to unique eyeball-like structures within its body.

As the boss drops to 30% health, it escalates its attacks, unleashing fiery blades and summon spikes from the ground. Utilize the barriers nearby for protection and pull the door open to reach its weak spots.

Keep a sharp eye on newly revealed spots and combine your maneuvers to be able to dodge while attacking relentlessly. Completing this boss will allow you to progress significantly, making the effort worth your while.

Your journey through Chapter 5 will reinforce your tactical approach to the game whilst rewarding you with progression and loot.

As you complete this chapter, cherish the lessons learned and prepare for the tough encounters ahead. Empowering combat and clever resource management will be central to your ongoing success in Valor Mortis.

After you’ve defeated the enemy, you’ll find a locked hut. Jump on the ledges to your left. You’ll be able to find a path that leads into the hut via the roof.

Drop down inside the roof and unbolt the door from the inside. Pull the lever and use stasis on the gear to keep the door in place.

Pass through the unlocked gate, and you’ll eventually reach a hut on the other end of the path. Here, you can either engage in a ranged battle or go down on the ground to defeat the enemies. A cannon-head enemy stands alongside a squad of several other enemies.

At the edge of the area, you’ll find two wooden bridges. Take the one next to the waterwheel on the right. Go straight on the path, and you’ll find a note at the end of the path. There’s also a grappling hook point here.

Power To Manipulate Nephtoglobin

After you use the grappling hook, you’ll find a lantern here. Go straight up on the path, and you’ll find the next power-up here. This one isn’t a combat ability, but it lets you unlock new formations from nephtoglobin corruption.

Now, you’ll have to go through a platforming sequence amidst the shipwreck. Use your newly acquired ability to manipulate formations and get through the area.

There are many ranged enemies on the way here. Halfway through, you’ll be able to shoot the nepthoglobin spot in the water to unlock a shortcut back to the lantern.

Keep going through the shipwreck. There’s a spot where you’re blocked by corruption, but the ship has a hole that you can use to target the nephtoglobin weak spot.

As you keep going, you’ll arrive on the other side of the river. There are strange cult-like structures here. As you walk through the area, you’ll hear Shrike’s voice.

It’s a long walk from here. You won’t see many threats here. Just keep walking until you reach the lantern in the distance.

Defeating Slaughtermill

Just ahead of the lantern, you’ll find the Slaughtermill. It’s more of a gimmick boss. You’ll have to dodge to the sides where it shoots tentacle-like projectiles in your direction. Just dodge when these projectiles get close.

The boss also periodically stomps the ground. You’ll have to jump over the shockwave to avoid it. There are also shockwave attacks that track your positioning, so keep moving, and you’ll be able to avoid those.

To deal damage to the boss, you’ll have to shoot the nephtoglobin weak spots on it. You’ll have to pull one of the planks away by using your grabbing ability, but the spinning blades won’t let you do it.

You’ll have to pull the door and use stasis on the gears inside to stop the blades from moving, and then you can pull the plank and shoot the weak spot behind it.

After you’ve destroyed the first four weak spots, the blades of the Slaughtermill will start moving faster and push you back to the edge of the arena.

Avoid the shockwaves by jumping onto nephtoglobin formations. You’ll be able to jump on the Slaughtermill and get inside it. You’ll find eyeball-like structures inside. Shoot any one of them and the boss will throw you back to the arena.

Now, the boss will summon spikes from the ground in highlighted areas. It can also summon small enemies on the field.

There will be one weak spot on one of the blades, and one inside the door of the Slaughtermill. You’ll have to pull the door to expose it.

Two more nephtoglobin spots will show up. One of them is on the right side of the boss, while the other is on the left side.

After the boss has around 30% HP left, it will knock you away again. This time, the blades will be on fire, releasing heatwave. You can use the nephtoglobin formation barriers on the ground to protect yourself as you move closer to the boss.

Get close and pull the door open. Just as you pull the door, the Slaughtermill will destroy the ground, and you’ll fall.

It will still keep throwing projectiles at you, but you’ll have to go through a platforming sequence to reach behind its back. The game will restart from this phase if you die in the area, and you won’t have to do the entire first part of the battle.
