Control Resonant Park Guide – Defeat The Collective

Learn how to navigate the Mold-infested Park in Control Resonant and defeat the Collective with this step-by-step walkthrough.

The Park is currently overrun by an aggressive strain of Mold that mutates rapidly and makes navigation a real headache. If you want to clear the area, you must systematically dismantle the source of this infection before it spreads further.

I personally spent way too much time wandering around the center of the zone, so don’t be like me and just head straight for the specific Mold sites. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer number of enemies, but keeping your cool while cleaning out these four locations is the only way forward.

Before you go, make sure your gear is up to date and you have a solid Fire-based ability like Ignite or Inferno equipped, as you will definitely need it for the boss fight ahead.

You will notice clear signs of Patterning throughout the vicinity, which confirms a Resonant is hiding in the area and likely fueling the outbreak. Finding and neutralizing this entity is your primary goal to restore the zone.

Remember that this is just one piece of the puzzle, and there are plenty of other secrets to uncover across the game if you keep your eyes peeled.

  1. Investigate the FBC base in the Park.
  2. Locate and eat the Minimart Mold.
  3. Locate and eat the Pizzeria Mold.
  4. Locate and eat the Gym Mold.
  5. Locate and eat the Cafe Mold.
  6. Defeat the Collective boss.
  7. Select your new combat ability.

Finding the Mold at the FBC Base

Start by moving north from Central and passing through the Park Checkpoint to enter the new zone. The moment you step inside, the heavy Mold infestation will be impossible to miss.

The persistent Patterning is a dead giveaway that the Resonant is lurking nearby, and it is up to Dylan to track it down.

  • Follow the objective marker toward the center of the zone to identify the New Mold Strains.
  • Check the FBC base located in the east section of the Park for any extra intel on the infection.

While you can poke around for information, the core requirement is just to find and eat four specific Mold samples hidden in the area. This is the only way to gain access to the barrier protecting the Resonant.

Once you have consumed all four pieces, the barrier at the New Mold Strains location will finally open for you.

Consuming the Minimart Mold

Head to the southwest corner to find the Urban Fresh Mart, though you will notice the doors are sealed tight. Clear out all the hostiles in the area to force the entrance open.

Inside, you will spot a peculiar piece of Mold that seems to be calling to Dylan, despite Zoe’s clear warnings against touching it.

You will get a dialogue choice to follow through, and even with Zoe trying to intervene, Dylan will eventually eat the piece of Mold.

The immediate effect is a bit trippy, almost like being intoxicated, but it provides a vision of the Resonant barrier entrance.

Zoe will step in to pull Dylan out of his dazed state, successfully bringing him back to reality.

Consuming the Pizzeria Mold

Travel to the southeast area near the Research Site to find the Pizzeria marked by its sign. As before, you must take out the enemies guarding the exterior before you can go inside.

Once you are in, look for the Mold sitting on the table and interact with it. This repeats the same sequence of temptation and resistance that you saw earlier.

Dylan eats the sample and enters another trance, but Zoe manages to snap him out of it, even if it is a bit more of a struggle this time.

Consuming the Gym Mold

Make your way to the far northwest corner of the Park where the ground is covered in spores. The entrance to the Gym is located right at the end of this infested path.

The process remains consistent: defeat the local threats, head inside, and ingest the Mold so Zoe can pull you back to your senses.

Consuming the Cafe Mold

The final piece of Mold is actually the one closest to the barrier itself, which saves you from doing extra running around if you find it early.

Inside this room, despite the warning signs, Dylan will go ahead and consume the Mold anyway.

After this final bite, the vision you see will confirm the barrier is now completely open and ready for you to pass through.

Approach the barrier, and it will dissipate, clearing your path. Make sure you are fully prepared before stepping through, as you are heading straight into a boss fight.

Take a moment to upgrade your gear and allocate any unspent talent points. Since the Collective is highly susceptible to fire, make sure you have Ignite or Inferno equipped.

Defeating the Collective

The Collective is honestly one of the less challenging bosses, but it can be frustrating because it relies on summons rather than direct attacks. It simply does not attack you personally.

When the fight begins, look for the two tentacles attached to the walls on either side. Use Shift to reposition yourself on the same plane, which makes targeting them much easier.

Keep an eye out for the white spots on the tentacles; these are the primary weak points that take massive damage when struck.

The tentacles alternate between slamming the ground near you and firing projectiles. These are easy to avoid, but the additional enemies spawning in can clutter the arena.

I personally find it much smoother to clear the smaller mobs first before focusing all my damage on the tentacles.

Once the tentacles are destroyed, the boss will expose its own weak points, giving you a window to rush in and deal as much damage as possible.

These weak points will eventually seal up, causing more Mold enemies to spawn. Simply wipe them out, and the boss will expose itself again shortly after.

The process repeats with the Collective summoning new tentacles, but just keep cycling through the same steps until the boss falls.

Choosing a Combat Ability

Once you reduce the Collective to zero HP, perform the Execution attack to finish the fight and earn your reward.

Spore Burst lets you fire Mold projectiles that apply an Infected status, causing consistent damage over time.

Growth allows you to summon a Mold ally that also builds up the Infected status effect on your foes.

I picked Spore Burst, but to be fair, neither of these felt particularly impactful during my playthrough.

Defeating the Resonant will naturally kick off a fresh Resonant Cycle within the Park Zone.

Take the time to experiment with your new abilities in the open world, as you might find a creative way to use them that I missed.
