Dragon’s Dogma 2 Beginner Guide – Where’s A Will

Navigate the quest 'Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way' in Dragon’s Dogma 2 with tips on defeating foes and completing side quests.

If you’re tackling the quest ‘Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way’ in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you’ll need to assist Eir and deal with various monsters while searching for Sir Rovall’s soul. Don’t let the seemingly straightforward tasks mislead you; things can get tricky fast, especially when it comes to dealing with the enemy spawns and managing your pawns. Mastering this quest involves knowing when to backtrack, activate barriers, and dive into side quests for extra rewards.

Initially, you’ll find yourself in Lorade Castle, where you must first speak with Eir to kickstart this part of the story. Stay on your toes; monsters will be trying to break through the door, and it’s easy to get swamped if you’re not prepared. Be sure to allocate some time to strengthen your gear and prepare your health items before heading out.

Check your inventory and make sure to stock up on potions and meals to boost your chances of surviving the intense battles ahead. A little preparation goes a long way here!

You’ll want to converse with Eir right away. She’s your main guide for this quest, and your mission starts by ensuring her safety as you aim to find clues regarding Sir Rovall’s will. After speaking with her, proceed to help fend off the monsters outside!

Polyeidus has his hands full, so you’ll have to take matters into your own hands. Look for clues about Sir Rovall’s will to keep things moving while he sorts out the details.

Here’s a basic outline of what to focus on in this quest:

– Speak With Eir
– Aid Eir In Activating The Magical Barrier
– Cut Off The Fiends’ Point Of Entry
– You Witness The Heart Speak
– Search For The Soul While Eir Traces The Will
– Quilt Me Down With A Feather Side Quest
  – Obtain Firebird’s Plumes From The Gagana’s Nest
  – Deliver The Firebird’s Plumes To Aymond
– No Spoils Get Left Behind Side Quest
  – Accompany Chrona
  – Venture To The Cavern Without Making Any Detours

Speak With Eir is where it all begins. Make your way to Lorade Castle and have a chat with Eir. As you approach, you’ll quickly notice monsters attempting to breach the door. Be prepared for a quick fight!

After helping Eir fend off the monsters, relay to her what the Sage told you. While progress is being made, you’re still missing some vital information regarding the will itself.

The key to finding Master Rovall’s will is connected to the heart of the Fallen Dragon. Eir is eager to join your quest, but she can’t leave her master’s remains vulnerable.

To ensure everything is protected, you’ll need to activate the magical defense barrier around the castle. Two statues are already on, but you have to wake up the remaining two.

During this whole scenario, it’ll just be you and Eir, since your pawns will stand guard by the entrance. Thankfully, Eir’s combat skills should help prevent too much struggle along the way.

When you’re ready, assist Eir in Activating The Magical Barrier. Check the statues positioned around the castle carefully, and you’ll find one to your left and another to the right.

Aid Eir In Activating The Magical Barrier

Start with the statue on the left. Take the stairs down and head left to spot a post you can use a climbing hook on. No hook? No problem—you’ll find one among the snow piles below.

Throw your hook at the post and climb up. Follow the path while clearing out the ice spikes blocking your way. Clear the area of enemies before Eir activates the statue. Once she does, it’ll glow gold, showing it’s ready to go!

After activating the first statue, return to your initial position and go right. Avoid the stairs that lead to nowhere and instead, follow the narrow path by the water.

Climb the ladder ahead. Once at the top, you’ll find you need some assistance getting to the next area. Eir will give you a boost to help reach the platform. Once you’ve made it, lower the ladder so she can follow you up.

Repeat the process one more time to access the final statue, but be ready for a battle since a large group of enemies will confront you here. Clear them out so Eir can activate it.

With all four statues activated, a magical barrier will form, keeping any unwanted intruders away from Sir Rovall’s remains—mission accomplished!

You need to repeat the process once more to reach the final statue, where you will find a large group of enemies. Clear the area so Eir can activate the statue.

Next, you need to Cut Off The Fiends’ Point Of Entry. Eir has spotted a nearby realm entrance from where all the enemies are pouring in. Stick close to her as she directs you to the entrance!

Your pawns will reunite with you as the next phase begins, which involves locating the Rift she mentioned that’s in the prior room of this dungeon. Head back to the previous area where Eir is.

When you get there, Eir will ask you to alert her when you’re ready to open the Rift and initiate the sealing process. Just remember—opening it will spawn enemies!

Once Eir opens the seal, you have to fight three Revenant bosses at once. This is your chance to seal the Rift completely, so come prepared!

Before the battle begins, upgrade your weapons and make sure to cook up a meal and stock those potions. You don’t want to go into the fight underprepared!

Once you defeat the Revenants, Eir will seal the Rift, which will vanish shortly after. Look out for the purple heart that appears afterward; it’s what you’ve been after!

Now, prepare yourself for a surprise! The heart speaks, revealing itself to be Rovall’s voice as he converses with Eir, asking her to forget about him and insisting that his life as the Arisen is over. Unexpectedly, the heart begins to fade away.

After you win, Eir will seal the Rift, and it will disappear. You will then see a purple heart floating nearby. Could this be the heart you have been searching for?

Though this suggests that Rovall is still alive, Eir outright dismisses his words, firmly believing her noble master wouldn’t abandon his duty.

Eir suspects that this is just a trick by whatever fiend has taken the heart. This makes her more determined to hunt down the heart, which she insists must be the Will.

While you’re on this quest, you’ll need to Search For The Soul While Eir Traces The Will. Like the previous quest involving the Soul Searching, you will need to make progress to keep moving forward on this quest.

Get ready to catch up on some available side quests since now is the time to take care of some other errands!

Now, let’s start with the Quilt Me Down With A Feather side quest. Head back to the village to find Aymond. If he’s MIA, rest for a day and come back—he should spawn eventually.

Just as with the Soul Searching quest, you will need to progress further through it before you can continue this quest.

Speak to him, and he’ll mention he’s looking for a Gagana and needs help locating it. You can easily direct him to Gagana’s Grotto since you’ve faced one before.

Wait a few days, then find Aymond again. He’ll tell you that he went to Gagana’s Grotto but couldn’t find the nest. That’s because he’s after the best quality feathers—the Firebird’s Plumes!

Aymond needs the feathers that naturally fall from these creatures instead of just taking them from the beast. He’ll ask the Arisen to find the nest and bring him some of those Firebird’s Plumes.

Use the Eternal Ferrystone to transport yourself to Gagana’s Grotto. You’ll need to summon a Gagana just like you did in the Castle In The Ice quest.

Defeat three Saurians and drag them back to the altar. Light each pit, and shortly after, the Gagana will appear!

Engage in battle, but when the Gagana is down to two health bars, use the Wait command on your pawns. Climb onto her back instead of fighting; this will lure her back to her nest.

The thing is, he needs feathers that have naturally fallen from the Gagana rather than plucking them from the beast, as these are of the best quality. He asks the Arisen to find the nest and bring him some Firebird’s Plumes.

Hold on tight during the ride, and you’ll arrive at the nest. Loot the nest quickly to grab the Firebird’s Plumes before the Gagana shakes you off.

After securing the plumes, you can decide whether to finish off the Gagana or leave her be—the choice is yours.

As a reminder, defeat three Saurians and bring them back to the altar ahead. Light each of the pits, and after a few seconds, the Gagana will spawn.

When the Gagana arrives, fight her normally. However, once she has only two health bars remaining, use the Wait command on your pawns to stop them from attacking, then grab onto her back.

If you can’t find him, simply rest at the inn for a day, and he should materialize. Hand over the Firebird’s Plumes once you see him.

Simply wait for the journey to end, and as soon as you arrive, quickly loot the nest and pick up the Firebird’s Plumes.

Rest at the inn for just one day or take a quick break nearby until the quest updates. Then, head back and see Aymond again.

Aymond will present you with a crafted piece of equipment, the Firebird Cloak, which is perfect for keeping you warm in harsh conditions, along with a generous reward of 20,000 Gold!

With the plumes in hand, head back to the village and look for Aymond. Chances are, you won’t find him because he wanders around a lot, but that’s no issue.

If you can’t find him, rest at the inn for a day, and he should show up. Speak to him and deliver the Firebird’s Plumes.

That’s it for this leg of your adventure! Keep your spirits high and good luck on your quest!

Simply rest at the inn for one day or doze off on the nearby bench until the quest objective updates. Then, head back and speak to Aymond.

It seems he used the remaining feathers to fashion a piece of equipment. He will give you the Firebird Cloak, which should keep you warmer during a whiteout, alongside 20,000 Gold.
