This walkthrough helps you defeat Satanachia in Dragon's Dogma 2 and navigate the Into Rancor quest.

The battle with the Fallen Dragon isn’t the end quite yet as you venture into the unsettling aftermath in Dragon’s Dogma 2. A strange total eclipse darkens the skies, leaving the village in chaos. Players often feel overwhelmed by the new challenges—this is where most gets tripped up, not realizing how critical the next steps are to unraveling this mystery.

Before you get bogged down with the quests, make sure you’re stocked up on healing potions and upgraded gear; you’ll need them for intense fights ahead! Trust me, you don’t want to be underprepared when facing what’s coming.

Keep an eye on the map markers for Rancor’s Vortexes, as you’ll be tackling several of them to progress. Let’s dive into how to navigate this next chapter!

After a long journey, the Arisen and Eir have finally managed to defeat the Fallen Dragon, allowing her to witness her master’s revival.

Just when they thought it was all over, however, a new twist awaits, one that could change everything.

The first steps in the quest include: Consult With Polyeidus, Make For Abyss Ridge, Dispel Several Rancor’s Vortexes, Take The Leap Into Niflhel, and defeat Satanachia.

The Total Eclipse begins as you reload your save at the village inn. Upon waking, Dorin calls you outside to witness the peculiar sight of a pitch-black void encircled by a glowing white ring overhead—akin to a total eclipse. The villagers are baffled and unsure of what this phenomenon signifies. Everyone believed that the fight with the Fallen Dragon would signal the end of troubles, yet here we are facing a new enigma. Dorin, concerned for the village, requires your assistance in uncovering this mystery.

Head to Castletown and find Polyeidus in the right passage. He was anticipating your arrival due to the dark changes in the sky. During your discussion, he reveals a connection between the eclipse and a passage he deciphered from the slabs found during your earlier exploits.

Polyeidus directs you towards investigating Abyss Ridge further, as it may hold the key to resolving the current crisis.

Exit the inn, and the first thing you will notice is a pitch-black void surrounded by a glowing white ring in the sky, resembling a total eclipse.

Neither Dorin nor anyone else in the village knows what is happening, and they have never seen anything like it before.

Using the Eye of the Sphinx, you can locate the necessary vortexes by opening your map. You should remember this item from your previous adventures; activate it to reveal purple markers on your map indicating the locations of Rancor’s Vortexes.

Each vortex functions similarly to earlier encounters; interact with one to seal off the area, initiating a series of battles against waves of enemies and bosses. Familiar foes will appear like Lesser Demons, Barbatos, and Blemmyae, so you know how to handle them by now.

You only need to dispel four vortexes before a cutscene occurs, showing a beam of light from the eclipse directed at Abyss Ridge. Completing this task will also grant you the Blade of Rancor, essential for your progression.

Dorin officially asks you to help them discover what is happening and, once again, help them overcome this bizarre event.

Consult With Polyeidus

Since no one in the village knows the cause of this new calamity, Dorin suggests that the scholar of the Commission might have an idea or a clue about what is happening.

Head to Castletown and find Polyeidus in the passage on the right side. He was actually expecting your arrival, as everyone could not help but notice the change in the sky.

Thanks to the slabs we transcribed earlier during the main quest, one of the passages Polyeidus discovered while deciphering them seems to describe exactly what is happening right now.

There has to be a connection between Niflhel and Abyss Ridge, so this is where you need to investigate.

Make For Abyss Ridge

From Castletown, make your way to Abyss Ridge, the same place where you spoke with the Pathfinder. You will find the Pathfinder standing there, waiting for you.

The Pathfinder will remind the Arisen of the adversary waiting within Niflhel Depths. Despite defeating the dragon, the wicked power itself remains untouched, and this is what is causing the eclipse.

The only way to remove the eclipse is to venture into Niflhel Depths and defeat the Thane of Darkness. However, you will not be able to access it directly.

This Ruin-Night has caused several vortexes to appear across Norgan, each harboring a realm enveloped in the rancor of fallen Arisen. You must enter these realms and dispel the rancor within them.

Dispel Several Rancor’s Vortexes

If you haven’t used the Eye of the Sphinx before, the item she gave you during Seeking the Sage, you will need to use it now to reveal the locations of these vortexes.

Open your inventory and use the Eye of the Sphinx. This will open your map and reveal new purple markers showing the locations of all available Rancor’s Vortexes.

These vortexes are similar to the rift you previously dispelled with Eir at Lorade Castle. Interact with a vortex to seal off the surrounding area, after which you will need to fight waves of enemies and bosses inside.

You will encounter familiar bosses from Norgan, such as Lesser Demons, Barbatos, and Blemmyae, so you should already be familiar with how these fights work.

Although the objective states that you need to dispel several vortexes, you only need to complete four in total. You can choose any four of the vortexes marked on your map.

Make sure you recover, heal, and rest between each encounter so you are prepared for the next one.

After you dispel four Rancor’s Vortexes, a cutscene will show the eclipse emitting a beam of light pointing directly toward Abyss Ridge. You will also receive the Blade of Rancor, a quest item you need to progress.

Take The Leap Into Niflhel

Head back to Abyss Ridge and speak to the Pathfinder. He confirms that access to the depths is now available with the help of the Blade of Rancor, and all that remains is to make the leap.

Before you do so, double-check your preparations. You will want to be extra prepared for what awaits you, so bring plenty of Wakestones, healing potions, curatives, and your best upgraded equipment.

When you think you’re ready, place a Portcrystal at the end of the bridge before taking the leap. Chances are, you will need a few attempts before you manage to defeat Satanachia.

Upon your descent into Niflhel, you’ll confront Satanachia , a formidable boss with ten health bars and no elemental weaknesses. Its vulnerable point lies in its head, specifically the third eye. How you approach this duel will depend on your chosen vocation. Melee classes need to grapple on an enemy to inflict damage, while ranged or Magick users can target the weak point more easily. Satanachia’s unpredictable nature comes from its teleportation abilities throughout the arena. Staying aware of its movements is critical; you can maintain your grip while it teleports, ensuring continuous damage delivery. It’s also clever to exploit any openings during its telegraphed attacks. Watch for its orbs and explosive attacks that it summons, as these pose serious threats in close quarters. When you see it charge laser beams post-teleportation, you’ll need quick reflexes to dodge effectively.

Satanachia is a tough boss with ten health bars and no elemental weaknesses to exploit. Its only weak point is its head, specifically the third eye.

The fight will depend heavily on which vocation you are using, so your tactics may differ. If you’re playing a melee vocation, such as Fighter or Thief, you will need to grab onto the monster and stab its head.

If you’re using a ranged or Magick vocation, you will have an easier time targeting its weak point.

Satanachia teleports frequently around the area, so keep track of where it moves. If you grab onto it, you can remain attached while it teleports, allowing you to continue dealing damage.

Satanachia has several attacks to watch out for. It can summon orbs from its hand and throw them directly at you. These orbs slightly home in on nearby targets, so be prepared to dodge them.

It can also summon explosive orbs from the ground, which detonate shortly after appearing. If you’re too close to Satanachia, it can use melee strikes and sweeping attacks with its hands.

Another attack to watch for occurs when Satanachia teleports and charges two laser beams that travel in straight lines. Pay attention to where it teleports, then dodge the beams once you know their direction.

Dodge the danger when Satanachia situates itself to unleash a hex attack from a reddish orb; keep up the focus on its head to break the sequence. If a pawn becomes immobilized due to this hex, you’ll have to deal with debuffs that can hinder your progress. Interrupting this attack is vital for survival.

As the battle continues, be prepared—if Satanachia elevates itself, it will rain homing orbs; make sure to have your evasive maneuvers ready.

  • If the attack targets the Arisen, you will suffer continuous damage that becomes difficult to keep up with, eventually leading to your death.
  • If it targets a Pawn, the Pawn will be immobilized and inflicted with several debilitations.

Interrupt this attack by focusing your damage on Satanachia’s head, as its weak point is exposed while it remains stationary. Do not let it complete the hex attack, or it could cost you the entire fight.

If you see Satanachia floating high into the air, it is charging another dangerous attack that will rain numerous homing orbs down on you.

Be ready to dodge and avoid the incoming orbs, adjusting your approach based on your vocation.

The End

Defeating Satanachia results in the boss vanishing, lifting the darkness from Niflhel. You’ll see your Arisen collapse in the snow, exhausted, before being carried back to the inn in Norgan by Eir or perhaps Sir Rovall.

This marks the conclusion of the walkthrough, and feel free to explore the additional content to enhance your journey throughout Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Thankfully, it seems that Eir, and perhaps Sir Rovall, carried the Arisen back to the village inn, as the next scene shows him waking up there.

And with that, we wrap up our final walkthrough for Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen. Thanks for checking it out!
