In One Million Coins, your main goal is to collect one million coins as quickly as possible. Completing this task quickly not only helps you climb the leaderboard but also unlocks the Time Is Money achievement. Early game strategies are crucial, and knowing where to focus your upgrades can significantly speed up your run.
This game can trip you up if you don’t prioritize your upgrades right. Many players waste their resources on suboptimal paths, which slows down their progress. Keeping an eye on the upgrades is essential to ensure you gain momentum during your run.
Before jumping in, make sure to understand the upgrade system. Knowing which upgrades work best early on can save you valuable time. Trust me, a solid start makes a big difference.
The right upgrades are vital for racing to the top of the leaderboard. This one million coins strategy focuses on essential early to mid-game upgrades, enabling you to gather coins more efficiently. Then, you’ll shift your focus to improving your capacity and hand abilities for an even stronger late-game performance.
These strategies were optimized around versions 1.0 and 1.1. Players have noted that many of the same principles apply in version 1.2, so you’ll have flexibility with your upgrade paths while aiming for that goal of a million coins.
Best Upgrade Order for One Million Coins
- Wall Chutes
- Quick Deposit
- Two at a Time
- Efficient Delivery
- Pocket Bank
After installing the Pocket Bank, turn your attention to bag capacity and the Pump upgrade. Keeping your bag from being full is key, so reposition the Pocket Bank as needed to remain effective.
As you progress, investing in the Magnet and its upgrades can pay off, but choose the upgrade path that suits your playstyle. Don’t forget to utilize your right-click ability and Chute Overdrive for maximum effectiveness during your run.
In the early stages, your main goal should be to eliminate the dependency on manual coin collection. Start by gathering 25 coins to afford your first chute upgrade.

How to Complete One Million Coins Faster
Early Game: Build Automatic Income
My top priority is to eliminate the hassle of manually collecting coins. To kick things off, I’ll need to gather 25 coins, which will then allow me to snag that first chute upgrade. The sooner I get to this point, the quicker I can streamline my coin collecting efforts and focus on enjoying the game!
Next up, I’m all about boosting my deposit speed and making strides toward unlocking the nifty portable banking system. It’s a wise move to allocate my first four upgrade points towards one chute upgrade and three deposit upgrades. This setup paves the way for placing the Portable Bank effectively, making my gameplay much smoother.
The Portable Bank is a game changer, allowing for automatic coin collection. While I pursue other upgrades, this gadget works for me. It starts with a solid collection rate of 30 coins per second, and if I really get things going, I can crank that all the way up to a fantastic 150 coins per second!
I also make sure to keep the bank close to the coin piles. As I explore the map, I adjust its position regularly to ensure it’s actively collecting coins instead of sitting idly too far from where the coins are dropping. Staying proactive with its placement pays off big time!
Mid Game: Increase Your Bag Capacity
Once the bank gets into the groove of collecting coins, my next focus shifts to boosting my bag capacity. With a larger bag, I can scoop up a ton of coins before needing to make a deposit, which means I can spend more time enjoying the game and less time running back and forth!
I suggest grabbing the first three large capacity upgrades on the left side, and then it’s a great idea to pick up Ghost Hand 1 from the middle of the Hands tree. After that, I’ll toss in more capacity upgrades as the game progresses, and eventually unlock Flow on the left side of the Hands tree to keep the momentum going!
I believe in continuously enhancing my capabilities before diving headfirst into investing heavily in my active ability. My main focus is on accumulating heaps of coins without the hassle of constantly pausing my progress to deposit them. It’s all about smooth sailing while I gather all that shiny loot.
During this phase, I put my energy into boosting my Bag Capacity and making those Pump upgrades. I also keep a close eye on my bag to ensure it doesn’t overflow, which could disrupt my coin collection journey. It’s crucial to keep the flow going without interruptions, after all!
Late Game: Improve Your Active Ability
After I unlock the fantastic Hand active ability, I make it a priority to level up its upgrade tree. This way, I can snatch up even more coins with each activation, maximizing the amount I gather with every swipe. The more coins, the merrier, right?
I’m also keen on optimizing the ability’s percentage-based bonuses to make the most out of every activation. Since the ability is influenced by my bag’s capacity, having a larger bag means I can really amp up the effectiveness of each use. It’s all about that sweet synergy!
Here’s where I like to focus my upgrade efforts:
- Bag Capacity: Increases the amount of coins my bag can hold, improving the value of percentage-based collection.
- Hand upgrades: Improve the effectiveness of my collection ability.
- Ghost Hands: They provide a great benefit to the active ability.
- Auto Deposit: I invest in this upgrade to reduce the need for manual deposits.
- Chutes: Add more chute upgrades to improve automatic collection.
With a solid array of upgrades, I can rack up thousands of coins with every activation, turning my efforts into a treasure trove of upgrade points. By the time I reach the late game, my coin collection can touch anywhere between 10,000 to a whopping 25,000 coins per activation, making each moment feel like a mini-celebration of success!
I also keep in mind to consistently use my right-click ability along with Chute Overdrive to maximize my efficiency. It’s worth noting that while the upgrade order given is a great starting point, I’m free to tweak my strategy as needed, especially if I notice my bag filling up too quickly or my coin collection lagging behind.

Understand the Coin Piles on the Map
The coins are scattered about rather than bunched into a single mound. The game map showcases several distinct sections, which I affectionately refer to as the middle, top, left, right, and elevator areas — each offering its own opportunities for coin collection.
Standing in the center of the map, I take a good look around and spot four outer shafts brimming with coins. It’s like finding hidden gems in uncharted territory!
Whenever I can, I strive to collect coins from the upper portions of these shafts. I’ve learned that approaching from below or from the side can sometimes lessen the potency of my abilities and the overall collection effects, so I always aim high.
As I pump up my upgrades, I shift my focus towards clearing out the outer shafts instead of just zeroing in on that middle pile. It’s all about maximizing my strategy and making the most of the coin bounty available!
Avoid Emptying the Middle Too Early
The Hand’s active ability is like a treasure magnet, capable of vacuuming up a massive amount of coins in one swoop, enough to wipe clean an entire section of the map! Just keep in mind, though, it might not always be on target if coins are lingering above where it can reach. So, timing is everything!
I’ve learned that if I rush to clear the center too soon, I might find myself needing to trek back up to grab the coins I missed in the other sections. Trust me, that extra back-and-forth can chew up precious seconds, and we all know how valuable every moment is in these runs!
To sidestep that little headache, I usually focus on scooping up coins from the upper parts of the outer sections in the early and mid-game phases. This nifty strategy lets me clear the map in a more balanced way, cutting down on all that unnecessary retracing of steps.
Which Upgrades Should I Use?
My priorities really shift based on which version of the game I’m playing, not to mention where I am in my run. Adapting my strategy to the current circumstances ensures I’m always making the most of my resources and abilities!
| Upgrade | When to use it | Why it helps |
|---|---|---|
| Wall Chutes | Early game | Kickstarts automatic coin collection |
| Quick Deposit | Early game | Minimizes time spent on depositing coins |
| Pocket Bank | Early game | Automatically gathers coins while I handle other tasks |
| Bag Capacity | Early to late game | Allows me to stash more coins before needing to deposit |
| Pump | Mid to late game | Streamlines deposit processes |
| Magnet | Mid to late game | Provides another method for gathering coins |
| Hand active ability | Late game | Collects huge amounts of coins in a single go |
| Auto Deposit | Late game | Lessens the need for manual coin deposits |
| Chute Overdrive | During the run | Enhances your chute strategy when activated |
How Long Does the Achievement Take?
The time it takes me to complete a run is really influenced by the upgrades I choose, how well I navigate across the map, and how I utilize my abilities. Finding the right balance and making efficient choices is the key to trimming down that clock!
I’ve checked in with the results of my recent runs using these strategies, and I’m excited to share what I found!
- Version 1.2: I managed to complete my run in just 33 minutes by sticking to the tried-and-true older strategy.
- Version 1.2: I wrapped things up in 34 minutes when I decided to go for some extra Hand and deposit upgrades, which made a noticeable difference.
- Version 1.2: I also recorded times of 45 and 58 minutes while opting for some slower upgrade paths, which shows how varied the outcomes can be depending on the choices you make.

Keep in mind that these times are the only ones I’ve documented, and they don’t guarantee you’ll hit the same milestones. The original sub-20-minute strategy was invented for the earlier versions 1.0 and 1.1, so don’t expect to see those same quick results in version 1.2; things have shifted a bit!
If you want to really optimize your performance, focus on building automatic income right from the start, continually boost your capacity, use your abilities frequently, and steer clear of wasting precious time on manual collection and deposits. This approach is key to achieving your best results!
