Village in the Shade Fishing Guide

Catch a Yamame Trout in Village in the Shade easily with this guide.

Fishing in Village in the Shade is a fun way to earn some extra cash in between managing your crops and fending off nighttime horrors. However, you’ll soon find yourself on a quest that requires you to catch a Yamame Trout, which can be tricky if you haven’t dealt with it before. If you’ve spent days at the fishing spot struggling to land one, you’re in the right place to find out how to catch a Yamame Trout.

The game does a great job of presenting fishing as an enjoyable side activity, but the early quest from Yoh might catch you off guard. You’re thrown into a fishing tutorial that only sets you up for some frustrating attempts at catching different kinds of carp instead of the elusive Yamame Trout. Before diving in, be sure to check your map to navigate effectively.

First off, you’ll need to tackle some errand requests to unlock the right fishing location. Completing a specific task for Kisuke will equip you with a new pickaxe and guide you toward the Mountain Foot Fishing Spot where those trickster trout roam.

How to Catch a Yamame Trout in Village in the Shade

Initially, the game leads you to the village’s fishing spot alongside Yoh for your first attempt at catching a Yamame Trout. However, you’ll mainly reel in carp, making it seem frustratingly impossible to get the fish you need. Stay patient; the right strategy is just around the corner.

Your first step in the right direction involves completing Kisuke’s request. After giving him an errand coupon, you’ll receive a new pickaxe. Use it to break a large rock located in the forest near the Hunting Lodge, which opens up a path to a fresh fishing area on the map called the Mountain Foot Fishing Spot.

Now we’re in business for catching Yamame Trout! At the Mountain Foot Fishing Spot, you can use fishing bait to increase your chances of a successful landing, but you can still catch them without it. However, don’t forget to have it on you; it helps streamline your efforts.

During the spring season at this new fishing location, you’ll come across Catfish and Yamame Trout. Both types will require four button presses to reel in, so if you’re struggling with a six button press fish, don’t sweat it—that’s not your target. Once you successfully reel in a Yamame Trout, take it back to Yoh and you’ll unlock a series of rewarding cutscenes to wrap up her request.
