We Were Here Tomorrow Rune Puzzle Guide

Easily solve the Rune Puzzle in We Were Here Tomorrow with configurations for each player to avoid common pitfalls.

The Rune Puzzle in We Were Here Tomorrow is all about teamwork and precise configurations. Each player needs to set up their device differently, so don’t just copy your partner’s settings. This can be where most players get confused and start duplicating the mistakes of others.

What really got me was not realizing that some effects contradict each other, which can lead to wasted time and effort. Understanding how these runes interact is crucial to solving the puzzle effectively. Knowing where to start can save a lot of frustration.

Before you dive in, make sure you have a clear understanding of which plant and effect you’re aiming for based on the items you’re holding. Take a moment to familiarize yourself with your devices before you split up, so you won’t waste time figuring things out on the spot!

The main challenge is selecting the right plant and effect runes without causing any conflicts. If you mix effects that don’t work together, it’ll lead to a lot of frustration, and you won’t get the desired result.

How the Rune Puzzle Works

In We Were Here Tomorrow, there are two crucial types of runes:

  • Plant runes (crosses): These represent the specific plants you’ll be working with in the puzzle.
  • Effect runes (triangles): These determine what effects get applied to the plants you select.
To crack the puzzle, you first need to decide the effect you want and identify the plant it needs to affect. Once you have that figured out, set the corresponding runes on your device carefully.

Keep in mind how these effects interact. For instance, you can’t combine an effect that boosts a property alongside one that reduces it. Such conflicting settings will prevent you from achieving the needed result.

Another key detail is the eye that monitors the devices. You should know that a device only activates when the eye can see at least one player. If you think your rune settings are right but nothing happens, check if the eye can see either of you!

How the Rune Puzzle Works

The following sections show how to set up the devices when you and your partner separate. Both of you need to configure your own devices based on the specifics of your item.

Rune Puzzle Solution When You Split Up

When you split up, one player will be holding the Velcro, and the other will have the Cube. Here’s how to tackle each setup.

1. Player Carrying the Velcro

If you find yourself with the Velcro, you need to set your runes according to the configurations shown in the respective screenshots. Pay close attention to match the symbols on your device with those provided in the images.

If you're carrying the Cube, you'll have a different setup! The configurations are unique, so ensure you follow the screenshots meant for the Cube.

2. Player Carrying the Cube

For the player with the Cube, set your device using the screenshots provided below. Make sure to adjust your setup independently of the Velcro player’s configuration.

Also, keep in mind that both players need to be wary of the rules; check your devices to ensure the eye can see a player as needed!
There's one last thing to remember about this puzzle: the devices shown in the screenshots must not be activated.

3. Keep these Devices Inactive

A critical part of the solution is ensuring these devices stay inactive throughout the process. If they activate inadvertently, it could derail the whole plan.

Double-check the rune settings on both devices and confirm that the eye can see at least one player to get the expected results.
