Learn how to find the Zora Scales to dive deeper in Ocarina of Time Remake, including both Silver and Gold Scale locations.

If you want to explore Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake like a pro, mastering diving is essential. Link’s default ability to dive is pretty limited, so you’ll need to earn some Zora Scales to access deeper waters and find hidden treasures. Trust me, getting the Silver and Gold Scales will make a huge difference in your adventure.

As you dive, you’ll discover all kinds of secrets at the bottom of ponds and lakes such as the massive Lake Hylia. If you’re feeling lost on where to grab these scales, let me guide you through it step-by-step.

Get ready to explore the underwater depths, and keep an eye out for the pesky limitations of your diving ability. Time to track down those Zora Scales!

How to Dive Deeper in the Ocarina of Time Remake

If you want to fully experience the wonders of Ocarina of Time, you’ll need to get your hands on two Zora Scales. First up is the Silver Scale, which is essential and can be snagged by Child Link. If you’re feeling ambitious, there’s also the Gold Scale, which is optional and can only be obtained as Adult Link.

Silver Scale Location

Once you find the Diving Coach, he’ll ask you to play his minigame. Get ready for a dive! He’ll toss a few of his scales into the water, and your goal is to collect them within a one-minute time limit. It might take a few tries to get used to the controls, but don’t worry—once you collect all the scales, you’ll be warped back up to the top where the coach rewards you with the Silver Scale. This scale is automatically equipped and boosts your diving range significantly.

The Silver Scale alone is enough to complete the game’s main quest. However, if you’re a completionist like I am, you’ll want to chase down the Gold Scale for additional diving capabilities.

This additional diving depth is just what you need to wrap up the main storyline of the game. However, if you’re on a quest for that sweet 100% completion, there are some fun extra challenges that call for even deeper diving. To fully tackle those, you’ll need to earn yourself the optional Gold Scale.

Gold Scale Location

To snag the Gold Scale, you’ll need to fish out a monster that’s at least 60cm long. Prepare to dish out 30 rupees to the Fishing Pond owner for as much time as you need on the water. There’s some luck involved, so don’t stress if it takes a few attempts—persistence is key here!

When fishing, make sure to wiggle your lure just a bit to grab the attention of nearby fish. After a fish notices it, wait for them to strike before starting to reel it in. A little tip: pay attention to the direction the fish swims in; you’ll need to move your analog stick in the same direction to keep it from escaping.

Don’t forget—when you hook a fish, they’ll fight back. Keep reeling and adjusting along with their movement, and with some patience, you’ll finally bring them in. It took me several tries to reel in a 67cm fish, which was in the central area of the pond, so keep at it!

Once you reel in a fish that hits or exceeds the 60cm mark, take it back to the Fishing Pond Owner and he’ll hand over the valuable Gold Scale. Not only will this scale allow you to dive deeper, making it possible to reach special areas like the bottom of the Lakeside Laboratory pool, but it also gives your diving game a serious upgrade.

You can definitely get a rough idea of how large the fish in the pond are just by observing them, but you won’t really know their exact size until you hook one. I managed to reel in a fish that measured 67cm right from the center of the pond, but let me tell you, it took me a handful of attempts to snag it!

Once you’ve caught a fish that measures at least 60cm or longer, make your way over to the Fishing Pond Owner and he’ll reward you with the coveted Gold Scale. This will enable you to dive deeper than you ever could before, unlocking new areas like the bottom of the pool at the Lakeside Laboratory—a place waiting to be explored!
