If you want to keep your mana topped up and your pockets full of petals, mastering songs of glimmerwick baking is one of the smartest things you can do early on. While whipping up fresh pastries is a great way to boost your stats, not every recipe is a guaranteed moneymaker. Some delicious treats actually cost more to bake than they sell for, so you have to be careful with your ingredients.
While standard bread is available as soon as you get your hands on flour, most of the high-tier bakes require foraging for specific seasonal ingredients. This breakdown covers all cooking locations, ingredient costs, selling prices, and exactly which baked goods will actually turn a profit.
Getting Started with Baking
Before you can start cooking, you will need to gather three basic essentials: some Flour, a Watering Can that is filled with water, and a nearby cooking fire.
Step 1: Sourcing Flour
You can obtain flour in two main ways depending on how much money you want to invest upfront:
- Buy it directly: You can purchase individual bags of Flour from the Miller for 20 Petals each.
- Grow your own: Buy Wheat Seeds for 20 Petals each, grow the crop, and mill it yourself. To do this, you will need to buy the Wheatmill schematic from Wisk – Practical Practice for 650 Petals.
Step 2: Preparing the Dough
Open your inventory or hotbar, grab your Flour, and drag it directly onto your Watering Can. Just make sure the can actually has water in it first, or you will just end up making a mess instead of Dough.
Step 3: Adding Extra Ingredients
To customize your bake, drag a compatible ingredient straight onto your freshly made Dough. If the combination works, the item will transform into a specialized type of dough ready for the oven.
For instance, combining a Dandelion with your dough turns it into Dandelion Dough for baking Dandelion Bread. If you just want standard Bread, you can skip this step and leave the Dough plain.
Step 4: Finding a Fire
Walk up to any available cooking fire with your prepared dough. Interact with the hearth and place your raw dough directly into the designated cooking slot.
Give it a few moments to bake. Once the timer finishes, your cooked food will pop up in the output slot on the right-hand side.
Be careful here: do not right-click the finished food unless you intend to eat it on the spot. If you want to sell it, click and drag it out of the slot to avoid accidentally consuming your hard work.
Where to Find Cooking Fires
You do not need to build your own oven. Instead, you can use any of these cooking fires scattered around the world:
- The Etchery – Common Room
- The Etchery – Library
- The Etchery – Garden Shed: This one requires you to finish the Ghost Treasure quest and spend 1,000 Gold Petals.
- Wisk – The Cup & Kettle
- The Ochre Woods – Hideout: Only available after completing the Ghost Treasure quest.
- The Flute Maker’s house
Every Baking Recipe and Profit Margin
To make planning easier, I have broken down the recipes by the season when you can first forage or harvest their ingredients. Below, you will find their sale values, stat buffs, and calculated margins.
To calculate these profits, we take the final sale price of the baked item and subtract the cost of the ingredients used. For example, if you use a 20-Petal unit of Wheat and a 10-Petal wild herb to make a 50-Petal dish, your profit is 20 Petals.
Keep in mind that these numbers do not factor in the potential 40% skill bonus you can unlock. For basic Bread, we only subtract the 20-Petal cost of the Flour since it does not require any secondary ingredients.

If you are looking to farm petals early on, Fisherman’s Pie and the Veggie Hand Pie are your absolute best spring bets. Avoid buying ingredients for Cranberry Cheesecake and Blueberry Muffins purely to sell them, as they actually run at a loss compared to their raw component values.

| Thistle | Thistle Cupcake | 35 | +23 Mana, +4 Speed | +10 |
| Nocturne Squash | Nocturne Squash Tart | 185 | +120 Mana | +20 |
For summer, the Cucumber Sandwich, Chocolate Babka, and Nocturne Squash Tart will net you the highest raw profits. Keep in mind that a Chocolate Babka requires purchasing an expensive Cocoa Bean, so it is usually better to stick to ingredients you have personally grown or foraged.
Autumn Recipes
| Ingredient | Baked Product | Sell Price | Effects | Estimated Profit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Scarlet Maize | Sweet Maize Cake | 120 | +78 Mana, +3 Speed | +25 |
| Ember Hearts | Berry Custard | 90 | +58 Mana, +6 Speed | +15 |
| Carrot | Carrot Cake | 60 | +39 Mana | +10 |
| Yam | Sweetroot Spiral | 55 | +36 Mana, +3 Speed | +10 |
Hands down, the Sweet Maize Cake is the champion of the autumn harvest. It brings in a clean profit of 25 Petals per bake, making it your primary focus once the leaves start to change.
Winter Recipes
| Ingredient | Baked Product | Sell Price | Effects | Estimated Profit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Frostwoven Nightshade | Frostwoven Parcel | 115 | +75 Mana, +3 Fishing | +15 |
| Quicksilver Cabbage | Cabbage Roll | 105 | +69 Mana, +3 Fishing | +15 |
During the colder months, both winter bakes will bring in a respectable 15-Petal margin. Make sure to stockpile any winter crops you gather so you can cook them up when the temperature drops.
Most Profitable Recipes for Petals
If you want to optimize your bakery for maximum wealth, you should focus on dishes that combine high market prices with easy-to-get ingredients.
- Fisherman’s Pie: Yields a profit of 27 Petals.
- Sweet Maize Cake: Yields a profit of 25 Petals.
- Veggie Hand Pie: Yields a profit of 22 Petals.
- Cucumber Sandwich: Yields a profit of 20 Petals.
- Chocolate Babka: Yields a profit of 20 Petals.
- Nocturne Squash Tart: Yields a profit of 20 Petals.
Remember, these margins are base values. If you unlock the passive skill boosts, your real profit margins on these baked goods will climb even higher.
How to Buy Flour During the Cursed Mill Quest
The local supply chain takes a major hit when the Cacophony Curse strikes. As soon as The Cursed Mill quest begins, the Miller will completely stop selling both Flour and Wheat.
To get the mill up and running again, you will need to complete a few specific tasks:
- Track down the Miller’s hidden goblin by following the white footprints leading down to the beach.
- Rescue Codrin from the fairy ring in the Ochre Woods to learn the Melody of Stones.
- Secure an Ungrowth Potion so you can clear the path up the mountain.
- Proceed with The Cursed Mill questline to lift the curse for good.
Once you banish the curse, the Miller will happily reopen for business, allowing you to buy your baking supplies just like before.
Other Lucrative Food Options
Ovens are not your only option for processing crops. Once you wrap up Acorn’s questline, you will gain access to a Pickler, which lets you process raw blackberries or winter berries into valuable Pickled Fruit Medley.
Since both of these berries only sell for 10 Petals on their own, turning them into a jar of preserves that sells for 49 Petals nets you an incredible return of 39 Petals per berry.
You can also throw seaweeds and certain shells into the pickler to whip up Pickles of the Sea for a similarly massive payout. Keep an eye on your pickling options before you spend too many hard-earned petals buying flour for your oven!
