Activating the SCU in the Waterworks is a straightforward task once you track down the Operations Key and clear the path ahead. Most players struggle with the navigation in the flooded sectors, where getting turned around is far too easy during combat.
You will definitely want to make sure your Riot Breaker is fully loaded and you have enough Grenades before pushing into the deeper, darker sections of this facility. The enemies here, particularly the Leechgut, hit surprisingly hard if you let them get inside your guard.
Before you begin, check that you have the Mechanical Crank in your inventory, as you will need it to bridge gaps. Once you have that, you are ready to handle the hazards of the Waterworks.

Entering the Waterworks
You can reach the Waterworks by heading east from the exit on your right. Clear out the Husks you encounter in the main room before proceeding downward.
While there is a shortcut in the bottom-left corner, stick to the main walkway heading right to stay on track. This route is slightly more direct if you are managing your resources carefully.
Fight your way through the local hostiles to reach a doorway leading to a ladder. Keep in mind that you need the Supervisor Key to unlock the path further east.
Climb the ladder and push into the corridor to find a Security Pod Type A patrolling the area. You need to dispose of this unit before you can safely scan the environment.
Look for the Energy Node Door to your right and use your Scanner to trace the necessary Energy Nodes to open it.
Once inside, search the remains to recover the Supervisor Key.
Backtrack until you return to the ladder you previously climbed, then follow the lower passage to the right.
Look for a door located up a short flight of stairs and use the Supervisor Key to bypass the lock.
Entering this door reveals a ladder leading down to the Waterworks, but check for a nearby ladder first to access a Safe Room where you can save your progress.
Reaching the Waterworks Safe Room
Once you descend the main ladder, open the door on your left to move deeper into the facility.
You will enter a massive chamber featuring a control panel, but you can ignore this for now and continue straight to the next room.
In the chamber filled with large tanks, head up the stairs on your right and pass through the door.
Cross the bridge and move through the door at the far end; you do not need to drop to the lower path just yet.
You will arrive at a deactivated bridge, so use your Mechanical Crank to extend it and cross safely.
Eliminate the Latcher and Husk waiting for you in the next room.
Unlock the shortcut door to your left to connect back to your entry point, then proceed through the door on your right.
Clear the room of enemies and duck into the Safe Room located just down the steps on your right to save.
Obtaining the Operations Key
Stock up on Riot Breaker ammo in the Safe Room before moving out; combat intensity spikes shortly.
Exit the Safe Room and head through the door across the walkway to the left.
A scripted combat gauntlet will trigger as the door locks behind you, so use the center railing to keep enemies at bay while you fight.
Go through the left-hand door to find a panel that lowers the water level, allowing you to access lower items later, then proceed through the adjacent door.
Cross the overflow well and enter the next door on the far side.
Take the first door on your left to enter the flooded, darker sections of the area.
Exercise extreme caution here to avoid Parasitic Worms and the dangerous Leechgut, which can deplete your health rapidly in close quarters.
In the next large room, clear all threats before checking the two left-hand doors for a Complex Alloy and the area’s Map Data, then exit through the bottom-right door.
Defeat the Latcher and continue through the door leading down and left.
Follow the passage and stay on the left path when you hit the fork.
Climb onto the platform while keeping a close eye on the water, as the Leechgut often hides beneath the surface waiting to ambush you.
Once you are out of the water, take the first right to reach a Safe Room corridor, using the lever to unlock a shortcut back to your earlier path.
Return to the main room and head for the far corner door on the right, but be prepared for a Husk Brute, which is significantly tougher than any Leechgut you have faced so far.
Use the left-hand railing to kite the Husk Brute and chip away at its health safely.
After the fight, enter the workshop and retrieve the Operations Key from the table before heading back to the Safe Room.
Reaching the Boss Arena
The boss arena is nearby, so equip your Riot Breaker and Grenades now to be fully prepared for the coming fight.
When you are ready, step out through the right-hand door.
Navigate the flooded passage, then climb up onto the walkway.
At the canal, descend the stairs and jump down from the broken railing, then climb to the walkway on the right as shown in the visual guide.
Clear the remaining hostiles, head up the stairs, and cross the bridge to the next door.
Descend the two ladders to reach the lowest section.
Follow the walkway, take the ladder down to the bottom, and pass through the broken wall to begin the boss encounter.
Drowned Husk Boss Fight
The Drowned Husk relies on aggressive melee lunges, so keep your distance to avoid being overwhelmed by its speed.
Watch out for the grab attack, which is the most dangerous move in its arsenal.
The trick is to roll through its attacks to create openings; if you time your dodges correctly, you can effectively negate its entire offense.
Use your Riot Breaker whenever the boss misses a swing and lingers for a moment.
Focus on baiting the dive attack, rolling behind the Drowned Husk, and firing off shots while its back is exposed.
Once it staggers, rush in to deliver a finishing blow with your Knife for maximum damage.
At half health, a cutscene will play where the boss grabs a pipe, signaling the start of the second phase.
The pipe extends the boss’s range, so avoid rolling backward; instead, stay lateral or roll through the boss to keep the pressure on until it falls.
Grab the Vault Key once the battle is over.
Activating the Waterworks SCU
Proceed through the door in the far-left corner to finish the sequence and activate the Waterworks SCU.
